How Much Does
Cloudflare Registrar Cost in 2026?
Cloudflare Registrar is the only major registrar with genuine at-cost pricing — you pay exactly what the registry charges, no markup. A .com costs $10.44/yr (Verisign's wholesale rate) vs Namecheap's $15.88 or GoDaddy's $21.99 at renewal. For anyone holding multiple domains long-term, Cloudflare saves 30-60% per domain per year vs competitors.

Our Verdict
Cloudflare's registrar is a business decision, not a product. They charge at-cost to get you onto the Cloudflare platform where they upsell DNS, CDN, Workers, Pages, R2, etc. The registrar is effectively a lead magnet — but that means the pricing is legitimately at cost. For 5 domains held 5 years: GoDaddy would cost ~$550 ($22 × 5 × 5). Cloudflare costs ~$260 ($10.44 × 5 × 5). That's $290 saved over 5 years on a 5-domain portfolio. Scale that to 20 domains over 5 years and you save $1,160. The catch: you must be technical enough to use Cloudflare's dashboard. The UX is developer-oriented — if you don't know what DNS records are, Namecheap's friendlier interface is worth the $5/domain markup. WHOIS privacy is free and included. DNS, SSL, and CDN are all free at Cloudflare's Free tier — you get effectively a free website infrastructure stack bundled with your domain registration. The only reason NOT to use Cloudflare Registrar: you need TLDs they don't support (rarer as they've added support for 390+) or you need phone support (Cloudflare is support-tickets only at Free tier). For cost-conscious, technical users, Cloudflare is the obvious choice.
Pros
- At-cost pricing — cheapest long-term option for any domain portfolio
- 390+ TLDs supported — nearly every major extension including .ai, .io, .dev, .app
- Free WHOIS privacy, DNS, SSL, CDN, DNSSEC — bundle worth $50-100/year at competitors
- Registry lock + anti-hijacking features are genuinely secure
- Transparent pricing — registry changes cost (annual ICANN fee adjustments) pass through directly
Cons
- Developer-oriented UX — non-technical users find Namecheap friendlier
- Support is ticket-based at Free tier — no phone option for domain emergencies
- Requires Cloudflare account setup — small friction for users who just want a registrar
- Transfers in can take 5-7 days due to Cloudflare's security checks — slower than Namecheap
